Yoga weekend retreats & other Events

OCTOBER 13TH – 17TH 2017

Unwind the body, mind and soul on this 4 day yoga & meditation retreat in lucious Bali with me at the wonderful Swasti Eco Cottages. Set only 200m from the mystical Monkey Forest in Central Ubud, I think you’ll love every element of Swasti. They seek to incorporate an organic approach throughout their centre that respects the Earth, prioritises comfort, friendliness and high quality service, whilst always minimising their impact on nature.

What to expect:
2 yoga classes a day – morning hatha practice with plenty of chances to workshop poses and explore the practice further and the afternoon will be more in the restorative/yin/meditation style

3 home cooked meals a day plus afternoon cake/tea – healthy vegetarian and organic food, much of which is grown in the gardens of Swasti

Accomodation in uniquely designed houses, which are built using 100% recycled wood from Java.

Everyone is welcome to attend this retreat, whatever your experience of yoga and your abilities. This will be an opportunity to develop your practice, to find space to explore more into the spiritual side of the practice through meditation and of course take time out for yourself from our wonderful but busy lives.

$4200 – shared room with a/c
$4500 – single room with a/c (limited numbers only but there is also the option of a single room with fan)

Within the price of the retreat you will receive one Balinese massage, be invited to attend a Balinese dinner and offered a chance to learn how to make Balinese offerings.

Flights & transfers are not included in the price. Cathy Pacific runs one flight/day to Bali at a cost of $4000 (current prices)

To book yourself a spot at this retreat please follow the link to the payment page (if you would like to spread your payments, please do get in touch and I am happy to discuss this with you)

Some people practice yoga for the sweat, the challenge and the opportunity to test their physical limitations. Others do it for tranquility and peace of mind: to take back control of their breath and body from a stressful world.

Whatever your objective, don’t allow pain to prevent you from pursuing it.

There are simple solutions to the common aches and pains you experience: from wrist and shoulder pain in chaturanga, to lingering low back pain the day after a class of intensive back bends. Each of these things—along with many other aches and apprehensions—can be eliminated through the integration of a few simple rules of biomechanics.

ln this 5-hour workshop, learn how to:
– Increase range in the hips, knees and ankles—without painful stretching
– Eliminate pain in the wrist, elbow and shoulder during planks and inversions
– Reduce neck tension and hold the head high with ease
– Improve balance and coordination in any pose

1) Side dominance behaviours: Discover that the left and right sides of the body can, and should, move differently. Learn to assess your own laterality “type” and what that means for making your practice more effective and less stressful.

2) Static Weight: Learn elements for proper weight distribution and how different distribution patterns change patterns of motion. Discover you can sweat without moving a muscle.

3) Launch/Load: Understand the human gait cycle, and how it forms the framework for every move you make. Learn to work within the internal relationships described by the gait cycle for greater movement efficiency in every transition.

4) Torque and Shoulder Strength: The shoulder is the most flexible joint in your body; you will discover how to generate stability from this mobility. You’ll also challenge your definition of “upper-body strength.”

5) Fall Drills: Learning how to fall safely is a powerful way to alter neuromuscular patterns. Learn multiple drills, their applications and expected outcomes.

6) Breath: An extension of core work, learn drills and cool-downs that demonstrate the power of breath to maintain—or interrupt—the kinetic chain.

This is an active workshop plus lecture; participants should come prepared to move, sweat and take notes.

Open to attendees of all experience levels.

About Kevin:

For nearly a decade, Kevin C. Moore has been a powerful ally for movers of every shape and size. His unique approach relies on forces—gravity, inertia, friction—rather than bones and muscles as the fundamental units of human movement. The result is a simple and effective method for reducing pain, increasing performance and helping people of all athletic abilities, from elite to infirm, reach their highest potential.

Kevin started out in biochemistry before becoming a professional actor and dancer. He certified as a Pilates instructor in 2005 and quickly built a devoted following. Pilates was only the beginning, however, and Kevin built upon his training with movement methods like the Alexander Technique, the Franklin method and tai chi, while developing partnerships with the giants of the fitness and rehab industry.

Kevin’s clear, engaging teaching style empowers regular people to understand their bodies, love them, and use them well.

4 Days of Yoga & Meditation with me in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Some of you will have heard me speak of this man, Angus Ford-Robertson, many many times. Angus has been for a long time now my teacher, guide and inspiration and I am so excited that I have managed to book him to visit us folk in Hong Kong later this year. He is one of the few people I know who genuinely walks the talk, he makes what seems so complicated simple and accessible for everyone. It is of no surprise to me that he has a huge following in London and that his retreats and classes sell out super fast. I have been on five yoga retreats with Angus now and each one has been so very special and in the 9 years I have known him I have studied yoga and meditation under his excellent instruction.

I am pretty confident that these workshops are going to book up fast, space is limited so book yourself a spot now!
If you have any questions though please do not hesitate to ask me, will be happy to talk you through the three days if you are not sure which one will be best for you. I will of course be at all three as I know they are all going to be brilliant & I don’t want to miss any of the fun!
Word of mouth is vital for spreading the news of these workshops so please if you think this sounds like a great event, do forward on this link to friends and bring them all with you.
